Description:

Jeff Baierlein is Vice President of the Outdoor Education & Camp Programs with the Girl Scouts of Western Washington, serving 24,000 participants annually with a variety of experiential education programs. He was previously the Executive Director of the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound Center and the Executive Director of the Boojum Institute for Experiential Education. Jeff has led sailing, backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, canyoneering, caving, and mountaineering trips in the US and internationally with a variety of organizations since 1987. A past member of the Washington State Governor's Council on Environmental Education and an adventure program accreditation reviewer with the Association for Experiential Education, Jeff sits on that organization’s Board and has also served on the Boards of Prescott College, the Northwest Environmental Education Council, and the Idyllwild Community Fund of The Community Foundation Serving San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, California.

Jeff has been active with backcountry and high-angle Search and Rescue teams in New Hampshire, Arizona, and Washington State since 1993. He worked with ambulance services in Arizona and Washington State as a street EMT, and instructed for Adventure Risk Management. Jeff has served as an expert witness regarding wilderness safety and outdoor education, and has been with Wilderness Medical Associates since 1996.
