Description:

Kate took her WEMT upgrade in 1998 before working as a seasonal ranger at Grand Canyon National Park. She has worked and volunteered as an EMT with the SAR teams at Yosemite and Grand Canyon National Parks and with the National Disaster Medical System teams in Denver, Colorado. She has a varied background working on disaster preparedness and response programs for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Justice, teaching rock climbing and first aid, and working as an ER nurse. She is particularly interested in the application of wilderness medicine practices to disaster medicine and international medical missions. Currently, she works as a Family Nurse Practitioner at a clinic for homeless patients in North Carolina.
