Description:

Mike is currently the Emergency Manager for Lake County and works part time as an EMT at the local hospital.

Since 1983 Mike has led and taught numerous groups through backcountry environments in a variety of terrain to include desert, mountains, and jungle; he is a graduate of the Jungle Operations Training Center (JOTC) and the U.S. Army Ranger School.

For over four years he has served as the county Search and Rescue training officer and has taught the First Responder course, land navigation, winter survival, high angle rescue, and the fundamentals of search and rescue. He has also been deployed with the hasty team on several critical missions.

In addition to his passion for teaching and practicing wilderness medicine, Mike enjoys participating in ultra-endurance sports in remote and demanding terrain and has competed in multi-discipline adventure races lasting from 6 hours to several days. Those competitions required proficiency and certifications in ropes and white water, and most required expert orienteering ability.

Mike plans to continue experiencing outdoor adventures with his wife, Laurel, and his sons, Nick and Jake (when they are home for visits from college).
